Add-Vision is deeply committed to building a strong IP portfolio for printed Polymer Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (P-OLED) display technology, as well as related inks and materials. We are one of the world’s leading flexible P-OLED display companies and are intensively focused on building a lasting technology platform for years to come. We have licensing and sub-licensing rights to a world-class portfolio of Intellectual Property (IP) covering technology developed by our own researchers as well as the IP of Cambridge Display Technology (CDT), the inventor of P-OLED display technology.
Add-Vision has freedom-to-operate in the market for low-resolution displays and specialty lighting applications. More importantly, Add-Vision can enable its licensees to successfully operate under a strong umbrella of IP protection for P-OLED display technology.
Add-Vision’s IP Portfolio
AVI has developed proprietary materials and processes for the fabrication of printed P-OLED displays. The key areas of the company’s IP portfolio include formulations in Light-Emitting Polymers (LEP) inks; cathode ink formulation; printing; processing, and flexible OLED encapsulation. The company holds significant trade secrets in printed flexible P-OLEDs.

Intellectual Property Background
Add-Vision operates in the world of OLED display technology. The OLED space includes numerous patent-related ‘hubs’ of IP. As a holder of nearly 200 patents in P-OLEDs, CDT is the primary IP house for POLED display technology. Kodak, UDC and others are the leading IP holders for Small Molecule OLED display technology (SM-OLED).
In March 2005, through an equity ownership transaction with CDT, Add-Vision secured from CDT a royalty-free license and sub-licensing rights to CDT’s patent portfolio when used in conjunction with Add-Vision’s technology for low-resolution displays. In March 2006, a second significant agreement was signed between CDT, Du Pont and Dupont Displays (formerly UNIAX) that entitles CDT to grant royalty free sub-licenses of Uniax’ important doped P-OLED patent.
These agreements provide AVI the freedom-to-operate in its target markets. More importantly, AVI can successfully pursue a licensing business model and allow its licensees to secure the necessary IP to commercialize low-resolution P-OLED displays when used in conjunction with Add-Vision’s technology.
